As a drink of fun and merriment, Kahlua has been an added celebration to the hard drink lovers around the world. Kahlua with Vodka, Vanilla Bean & Brewed Coffee
- Freshly brewed coffee (hot and strong-flavored) – 2½ cups
- Vodka – 2¼ cups
- Vanilla bean (cut in half) – 1
- Sugar – 4 cups
How to make
In the hot coffee, start stirring the sugar until it dissolves completely and keep it aside to let it cool. Next, add the pieces of vanilla as also the vodka and keep stirring for a while. Set aside again, this time for 2 to 3 weeks, and allow the mixture to set. Then after, strain the mixture, remove the beans and store in a stylish bottle.
Variation with Vanilla Extract:
The ingredients and procedure are the same, but just replace the vanilla bean with 3 tbsp of a good quality vanilla extract. In this case, you don’t need to wait for a fortnight. Just stir the mixture and it is ready to drink. Although it won’t retain the authentic flavor and aroma, but nevertheless, it’s good to sip.
Homemade Kahlua Recipe with Rum

Homemade Kahlua Recipe with Everclear
- Coffee (very strong) – 1½ cup
- Brown sugar – 2 lbs
- Vanilla extract – 4-6 tbsp
- Everclear or Clear Springs (190 proof) – 1 bottle
How to make
Take a large pot and boil the coffee. As it comes to its boiling point, add the sugar slowly, while stirring constantly. Allow the mixture to cool down to room temperature and then add the extract of vanilla along with the Everclear. Now your Kahlua is ready to drink. You can also keep the extra Kahlua liquor in a good looking bottle and store, if you want to serve it to your friends on special days. It won’t spoil.
You can try variants, using hazelnuts, chocolate macadamia or French vanilla. Almond would also add an Amaretto (an Italian almond liqueur) flavor to it.
