Simply use lip balm and/or lip scrub/exfoliator when you feel your lips are dry. Exfoliating your lips, in order to get rid of the dry, dead cells is necessary to retain the softness of your lips. However, it is best if they are made naturally at home, while you boycott the ones that are readily available in the market, oozing with strong chemicals, only to harm your lips more in the long run.

Easy Homemade Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe

Ingredients

  • Sugar – 1 tbsp
  • Honey – 2 tbsp
  • Any petroleum jelly (like clear vaseline) – 1 squirt

Ingredients

  • Jojoba oil (or olive oil) – 1 tsp
  • Honey – 1 tbsp

  • Petroleum jelly (optional) – ½ tsp
  • Aromatic spices or oil

How to make

Take the jojoba oil and mix it with the honey and the sugar and mix well, until it forms a viscous paste. Take a little bit of this paste on your fingertip and apply gently on both your lips. Allow it to stay for a couple of minutes and then wash it off lukewarm water. If you have any left, store it in a small, clean container.

  • Brown sugar – 1-2 tsp

How to make

Take the honey in a bowl and heat it in your microwave for 5 seconds only and then mix it with the almond oil. Pour the sugar and mix evenly making a smooth paste. Add the essential oil. Now apply this mixture onto your lips in a circular motion, which would exfoliate your lip’s dead cells. Rinse your lips with warm water.

Although the essential oil is optional, but DO add it, we advise, since this has a healing property, just like almond oil has vitamin E in it.

  • Coffee (coarsely ground) – 1 tbsp

This is one of the simplest and most instant ways to make a lip scrub when you are in a hurry. Simple mix the coffee and the coconut oil well and directly apply to your lips and keep rubbing very gently by a soft-bristle toothbrush for 30-45 seconds. Leave it for 5 minutes and wash off.

Now wash with warm water when done. Other than exfoliation, this scrub also acts as a good moisturizer for your lips.
